Madolene Mukabutera is a mother of two biological children and one adopted child.
She used to wash clothes for other people to earn money, as it was her form of employment to sustain her family, since her husband did not have a job.
Despite all the challenges in her family, they decided to adopt another child, believing that it would be better for the child to live at home rather than on the streets. However, as the situation at home continued to be difficult, the adopted child escaped and returned to the streets.
One day, Madolene met a young woman named Jane, who was with the adopted child. They had a lengthy conversation, and Madolene learned that Jane was volunteering with Empower The Future Organization.
After seeing Madolene’s generosity and kindness in trying to help and adopt a child, despite her financial struggles, we decided to enroll her in our organization. We began supporting her with monthly food, teaching her a sewing course, employing her in our regular sewing moms’ group, and including her in our parents’ literacy program.
Today, she is a happy mother who can sew different types of clothes, bags, bedcovers, aprons, and much more. She can also speak some English words. She is now able to sustain her family, as she is employed in the life skills department.
She is extremely grateful to our organization for positively changing her life. Not only has her life improved, but this impact extends to her family, contributing to its long-lasting sustainability.
She plans to renovate her house and looks forward to becoming more self-reliant in order to better support her family.
